ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, NIGHTINGALE ROAD, DERBY. TELEGRAMS: "ROYCAR," DERBY. TELEPHONES: 813 (Two Lines) DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. This column is for Name of Person addressed: Mr. Barrington DATE: 3.4.12. Subject: Change Speed Levers. AWG/G3412. We sometimes find it necessary to replace change speed side levers on account of wear at the end, which causes an annoying rattle of the lever. Mr. Wearham, of the Repair Department, suggests that if the spring plunger in the end of the cross tube was allowed a little more outward move-ment, instead of being limited as at present, it would overcome the difficulty of pressing up against the end of the lever, and so compen-sating for the wear that takes place. I shall be glad if you will have this looked into with a view to something being done to overcome the trouble. This question of wear on the end of change speed levers has been raised previously, but nothing done, and if This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers.
