X7370 BRAKE CLANKS ------------ We have gone to a considerable amount of trouble to test out your method of avoiding brake clanks. Attached is a report from Hancock who carried out most of the work, from which you will see that our results have not been entirely successful. Certainly the braking, when driving the car with the altered 'T' lever, has one or two peculiarities. The whole servo operation is so complicated that while one can produce a condition where clanks will not occur on any given car, as wear proceeds, and the brake ropes stretch, the trouble seems to come up again. We are trying out the stop on the 'T' lever again, to make sure that this really does work, and will report on it as soon as we have made a thorough test.
