OIL FOR HYPOID REAR AXLES.
Thank you for your Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}13/W.24.1.30..
Whilst it is satisfactory to be assured that an oil having equivalent characteristics to those of Whitmore's, is likely to prove available from more than one source quite soon, we have not yet heard anything from you of an encouraging nature as to the actual cause of the trouble with the gears on 1-J, London Trials, which is a more important point.
We should like to know as soon as possible whether any special steps should be taken by us to prevent this sort of trouble occurring under any extreme conditions with other "Phantom I" cars in the future.
