W/S. PN.{Mr Northey} From Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x2066 Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}9/T28.1.30. x7960 x2066. OIL FOR HYPOID REAR AXLES. PN.{Mr Northey}2/WT28.1.30. Referring to above. I thought we had told you all we could about 1-WJ. London Trials and the failures with the Hypoid Gears. It is certain from all our knowledge, experience and examination, that the teeth of these gears in the axle, at some time or other, from some cause unknown, has been short of oil and failed. We think, therefore, that steps should be taken to see that axles do not run short of oil, and we should advise all our inspectors etc., to make sure that there is plenty of oil in the rear axles. Beyond this we have no further information available. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
