To RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c.c. to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/W.Bell +342 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.18/KW.1.7.35. Unit Construction Front Shock Dampers, N.Sch.4281, as on SpectreCodename for Phantom III III. We should like the bumper chassis and W.Bell's rig first equipped with the above dampers, as these units can be completely used for testing. At the moment we have no way whatever for checking the loads of these dampers. For SpectreCodename for Phantom III III an approximate setting was obtained by fitting a very light spring in the suspension. Will you please therefore make a special piston and link, similar to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1500, so that W. Bell can operate the piston directly with the main lever. The bumper chassis frame has cracked in the front owing to the weight that is necessary to compress the springs. Will you please try to patch up this failure, and make the necessary fixture so that the same weight can be fixed to the front of the chassis without doing more damage. We do not want to excessively overload the engine mounting. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
