FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER TRIANGLE LEVERS
AND SHOCK DAMPER MOUNTING - BENTLEY III.

On N.Sch.5188 herewith we show the design of the front suspension upper triangle levers and the mounting of the Gordon Armstrong shock damper.

The pressing for the rebound buffer is first attached to the frame gusset which is subsequently riveted and welded to the frame proper. It is intended that the frame should come in with all of these parts fully assembled. The bearing housing for the upper triangle inner bearing is intended to be a steel casting. We have shown needle roller bearings with Duprene oil seals, and it is not intended to use centralised chassis lubrication. An alternative to be tried will be plain bearings with chassis lubrication.

The shock damper is a standard Gordon Armstrong with a modified casing having bosses to receive the lever for the torque link. The two bolt flange on the damper is attached in exactly the same manner as the standard Gordon Armstrong damper lever is attached, and, therefore, it will be necessary to arrange for the dampers to be supplied complete with this feature.

The upper yoke piece bearing is shown on the drawing of the yoke piece, and we have now ascertained from Messrs. Silentbloc that they can produce this bearing as drawing.
