1116 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/MH.{M. Huckerby} 24th. October 1938. Metalastik Ltd., Evington Valley Road, LEICESTER. Dear Sirs, As submitted to your representative at Earl's Court, our arrangement of a flexible dynamo coupling (SCD. 940) we enclose herewith detail drawings of the flanges for the job, EXS.1143/4, together with an arrangement of the coupling when moulded with the rubber in position, (EXS.1145). We require this coupling to give a torsional flexibility of not less than 8° at the maximum torque of 10 lbs/ft. and would be obliged if you could let us know whether this set up would give the above requirements. If not, we should like to know how near you could approach these figures or any suggestion in the space available as to how the coupling could be improved to give more satisfactory results. If as drawn, the coupling is suitable for the job we should like to know what it would cost us for 3 samples for trial, also in quantities of 500, 1000 and 2000. As understood from your representative you would produce the complete coupling with adaptor flanges EXS.1143/4 which we consider is preferable to us making the flanges and sending them to you for moulding of the rubber. We are particularly anxious to try this coupling as soon as possible and would appreciate an early reply. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
