BATTERY IGNITION - REDMANOL ENCASED COILS

My assistant reports as follows :-

"Two standard coils in redmanol cases have now completed an aggregate mileage of 50,000 miles, one on an EAC. chassis and the other on a 20 HP. Both of them have completed over 15,000 miles running in France, the total mileages to date being :-

TR.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}3 (now on 9-GIII) 31,868 miles.
PR.S " on 81EX. 18,492 "

Throughout the whole of the running on each chassis, we have registered no complaint or failure of these coils. We have also other redmanol encased coils which have completed considerably over 10,000 miles running on 20 HP. and EAC. chassis without failure, but the two mentioned above have completed the greatest mileage to date.
EFC/H.E.West. "

The above refers entirely to coils with standard windings.

We are also accumulating mileage on coils with considerably finer primary windings taking less current, and all of these coils are likewise made up in redmanol cases, and so far we have no complaints of these either on ordinary running or on special tests.
The idea is that if they are O.K. in redmanol cases, they will be O.K. in the standard stabalite, so that when the tests are completed- sufficiently for a standardisation sheet to be issued, the question as to whether the redmanol will be adopted or the stabalite continued with may again come to the front.
