Elwa-Electro Ltd. Zurich. Instructions for connecting cables and plugs "A". [Image with labels 'Masse', 'A', 'A'] The connecting of the two plugs is preferably done as shown in the drawing: in the front, to the right, and, at the back, to the left of the car. The plugs are to be fitted exclusively on bare metal, i.e. on the "mass" (varnish, paint, etc. to be carefully removed), in order to obtain a perfect contact. After connecting the plugs and cable, it is advisable, for the purpose of insulation, to apply insulating varnish to the bare metal places. The diameter of the cable to be used must be at least 6 sq.mm., and on large long cars up to 10 sq.mm. From the plus terminal + (positive) of the car battery, a cable of the above diameter, carefully fitted and well insulated, is to lead to the plug connections. Special care should be taken that the cable ends are strongly soldered to the cable terminals, in order to avoid any possible loss of current or interruption of current. The minus terminal - (negative) of the battery is already connected on every car to the "mass" (chassis). Every ELECTRIC CAR HOIST "ELWA" bears on its plate of origin the serial number and the correct voltage for the motor, i.e. 6 or 12 volts. The apparatus is carefully tested by the manufacturers, provided with the necessary lubricants, and well sealed, so that no special attention is required. to: Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY G.B.
