x528 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C.E. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ds. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.30.10.35. Modified 2nd Speed Coupling 20/25 and Bentley. We send herewith N.Sch.4677 which shows our suggestions for preventing this coupling from working out of mesh. New pieces are required for the coupling, the 2nd speed fork and the reverse fork. The 1st speed pinion is slightly shortened at the screw thread end. Drilled teeth are used in the coupling as no other type can be formed in the space as far as we are aware. However, the teeth on the gear are truncated to ensure that the tooth load is approximately tangential to the pitch circle as for the present Fellows teeth. A print is attached to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' copy. HDY.{William Hardy} N.Sch. 4677 herewith. | ||
