WST 6142 S/W. (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.) c.c. to Mr. W. COMPLAINT CASE. 163-TA. VERRELLS. H7/H20.2.36. We have been having for some months, very great difficulty in satisfying the above owner, (who is Managing Director to E.K.Cole Ltd.) with his car. It is not necessary to describe to you the troubles we have been dealing with, but we do suggest you should refer to your file at W. to get the general position. We thought we had nearly got Mr. Verrells satisfied when last week, he again had to send his car to N. with two complaints. One was a third recurrence of sticky brake mechanism and the other erratic dynamo charging. We attach a copy of his letter of the 18th inst. and of the report by his car radio engineer, which accompanied it. We also attach a copy of our reply of to-day, and you will see from the letter that we have told Mr. Verrells that he will hear from you direct. We feel in a difficulty here in dealing with the electrical side of this case in the absence of the full information available in the Experimental Department. In the first place, we do not know what general arrangements have been made between you and the wireless firms, though we believe, for example, you were in direct communication with Messrs. E.K.Cole Ltd., themselves about a year ago. Secondly, we have not enough information to deal with criticism of our voltage control regulator. We are under the impression, for example, that it does occasionally stick, even when no condenser has been faultily connected to the field terminal of the dynamo. The position in this Complaint case, it seems to us is that we have either got to convince Mr. Verrells and his radio experts - (1) That the regulator is the best obtainable, or (2) That if it fails, or is erratic, it is due to wireless attachments. | ||
