contd: -3- Dal/12.9.21. between 22nd. August and the 9th. Sept. about which I was in ignorance, there has not been much delay, as it would not have been wise to order a large number of springs until the receipt of the experimental springs had verified the method by which they should be calculated. We have, during this past week end, prepared a fresh set of spring drawings calculated on the simplest method, and throwing considerable responsibility on Woodheads; but it will perhaps be agreed that as the more accurate figures prepared by Stott are (I understood from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) in BY's hands now, the springs should be ordered to these figures. There is one other point, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that he carried a 1300 lbs spring. This is evidently the original exper-imental spring which was too stiff. My records shew that there are two springs - 1071 and 1057 lbs. resepctively which have been in the works some time. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
