Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. For attention of Mr. Robotham. Dear Sirs, We beg to thank you for your telegram of the 21st inst., giving us information with regard to the over-night loss, as arranged. As you will probably realise, this telegram was received after the writer had left the office on Friday; otherwise we would have replied by an earlier post. Our conclusion, up to the moment, is that the excessive over-night loss which you have been experiencing is probably due to the air pumping under certain conditions not being sufficiently vigorous, and under these conditions of running, with a not constantly fully corrected unit, excessive over-night losses have been experienced. These losses would probably not have amounted to more than two | ||
