Bailey - Chief Engineer} The Lee Plaza, DETROIT. 27.11.30. 25 EX. We have fitted the low rating springs to the front and rear of 25 EX. We measured the stiffness of the springs removed from 25 EX. and found them to be:- Rear - 163 lbs per in. Front - 370 lbs per in. Exp. Springs Rear - 136 " " " Front - 223 " " Springfield standard 135 " " " Front - 310 " " The shock absorber setting of Springfield cars is 120 lbs up and down at the front with drilled valves. Rear 60 up and 80 down with drilled valves. The riding of 25 EX. with the Exp. springs is definitely improved, the pitching at the rear is greatly reduced. It has not yet been criticised by any of the Springfield people, but I made a short comparative test and the impression was that you could feel the axle more on 25 EX. The impression is that the tyres are hard but we made no improvement by altering the pressures. We are trying to get a set of wheels with U.S. tyres, but owing to the difference in hubs they are scarce. We are trying various shock absorber settings. Contd. | ||
