Replying to BY/CGH{W Clough}2/G17.5.29. re. reduction of the steering lock by the shaft of the front axle control damper, we send herewith N.sch. 2893 shewing how we suggest by making slight alterations to the shaft and the lever, we could bring in the projecting end until we get 38° lock with a reasonable clearance. We expect that a certain amount of material has gone so far that this cannot be used on the first cars, and we shall have to accept in those cases the smaller lock, but we think this new proposal should be brought in as soon as possible.
