To BY/HEB.{H. Biraben} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. X7240 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/LG18.6.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' STEERING COLUMN CONTROLS. X7430 The new springs F.81046 supplied at our request to bring the steering column control operation in line with the Phantom as regards the effort required to operate the governor and ignition controls, are satisfactory. They should therefore go on production in preference to the springs F.80463. Part of our trouble was due to the fact that on our experimental cars there was too much movement of the levers against the spring pressure. Only just sufficient movement for the lever to disengage from the quadrant rack should be allowed, as on the Phantom. Will you please make sure that this is made correct on S.S. production.
