-3- in the O.S. front wheel. Five have broken during the last two days. They are breaking across the sharp bend close to the rim. We also have observed that a quantity of water enters and remains between the hub of the wheel and the hub of the axle. We have not had any wheel work loose on the hubs. we are discarding the O.S.F. wheel and making it the spare, as further spokes have broken during the morning's run. Apparently the steel of the spokes has fatigued. RE. OIL TEMPERATURES. The slot in the front under pan has made no material difference. With an air temperature of 5°C, the oil temperature reached 120°C. The harder the car was driven the higher the temperature became. As we have remarked, there is hardly any oil in the bottom half to cool when travelling at high speeds. G.W.Hancock. G.W.H. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We have informed Dunlop of the failure of the spokes in the wheel. Rhy. 13/12/32 | ||
