Birmingham.

For the attention of Mr. Jones.

Dear Sirs,

ENGINE FEET RUBBERS.

We have received a delivery of 42 of the above pieces which have been invoiced to us under the new piece No. F.80057, which means that they should be made from No.6 mix, and should give a poundage of 750 lbs. at a deflection of .150 plus or minus 7.

As of course the deflection is important as well as the load, that is the parts should deflect .150 plus or minus 7 to give the 750 lbs., we grind each piece accurately to length.

In each case we find that instead of giving the poundage required that they only give 600 to 700 lbs. when compressed .157, that is taking advantage of the minus limit on length.

As this was the first delivery of pieces under the new part number we feel it is very important that this matter should be brought definitely to your notice to prevent misunderstanding. We would prefer to return the rubbers if you feel you can supply us with others to take their place at an early date to give the correct poundage. In view of the position therefore I have instructed the Works to return the rubbers, so that you may be able to check them yourselves.

We would like to add whilst dealing with this matter that the three deliveries made from Birmingham of the old piece number to give a poundage of 500 lbs. at .150 plus or minus 7 deflection were actually the new
