Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hl. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 48060 R1/M11.6.28. VALVE STEELS. X.1474 X.5060 X.8060 X.4587 X.3822 I think the nearest and quickest way to find out the best valve steel is to test valves in an engine on the xx test bed. I understand the steels suggested are Firth's (Nickel-Chrome-Tungsten) K.E. ditto, and present S.L.V. If they all stand I suggest that the sections of the head be made lighter until they overheat or stretch. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} get this done without delay, and so dispose of a matter that is costing money in time and thought etc. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
