BIRMINGHAM. 8.

Dear Sirs,

PETROL PUMPS.
------------

As a result of the discussion which took place yesterday between our Mr. Hancock and Mr. Dickson, and Mr. Skinner and Mr. Kent on the part of the S.U. Company, we agree that you shall immediately incorporate G.2. fabric in pumps which you are delivering from now onwards to this Company.

From information conveyed to me by our representatives, it is evident that the original fabric with its treatment was liable to considerable variation in thickness and area, as a result of running conditions, and that certain failures of which we have quite a number were due to this characteristic of the treated fabric, this being so, we have decided to adopt your standard G.2. fabric without delay.

Incidentally, Mr. Hancock mentioned that a message had been received from Mr. Eoplis in our Order Office that all the petrol pumps would have to have the crinkled wire fitting. This statement, of course, should have been qualified to the extent that it referred to pumps with the valve housings, which have been opened out to permit the increased capacity of flow, i.e. D.74509, the number of these is not very great.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
