Re: BENTLEY V CHASSIS - B.12.AW

We should like to be in possession of the following:

1. Clm.{D. D. Clapham}✓ Arrangement drawing of front dampers and notes re checking and setting poundage (also recommended poundage).

2. R.H. ✓ Arrangement drawings of gear box (1st and 3rd motion shafts, servo drive, 2nd motion shaft (overdrive).

3. O.K. Arrangement drawing of servo motor.

4. MHR{M. H. Rigby} ✓ Correct poundage of Armstrong hydraulic damper as fitted to brake mechanism.

5. ED{J. L. Edwards} ✓ Tappet clearances (cold) for high speed continental driving.

6. No. ✓ Is a preliminary instruction book now available?

7. Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} ✓ Amount of clutch pedal clearance between pedal and floorboard (pedal lifts as speed of engine is increased).

8. GTS. Plug points found to be white, which would indicate a weak mixture. Can Works supply smaller S.U. needles so as to strengthen the carburation, especially in view of the low grade (65 octane) fuel which can now alone be obtained. Smaller needles would probably improve the acceleration.

9. M.H.R ✓ What is the normal distance between brake shoes (liners) and drums when the shoes are in the off position?

10. MHR{M. H. Rigby} ✓ How many quarter turns backwards should the brake adjusting screws be given when the shoes have been applied to the drums (external brake adjustment)?

As the brakes are at present the worst feature of the car, we should like as much dope about them and the servo as possible.

Can you obtain from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} a suitable thermometer for registering the oil temperature and sketch re fitting same. I have written to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re this.
