R.R. 235a (100 T) (S.H. 159, 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. c. to BJ. c. to HHS. RECEIVED 5. GOSHAWK 11. (BEATONSON BODY.) X3730 X4219 The body on this car should be changed for a good one of the same type. The new one should have 4 doors, and both the front and back seats fixed like an ordinary open touring car. Such a body should be most useful and suitable for our 20.HP. chassis, and I am informed can be made to our standard dimensions and very satisfactorily, with 4 doors. The fresh Goshawk you bring to replace,(preferably No.6. or No.4.) should have if possible:- (1) The improvements to the dynamo brushes. (2) The fan driven from the dynamo. (3) The small magneto supplying the current when necessary to the battery distributor. (4) Perhaps the exhaust heated throttle valve. (5) Cover over the valve mechanism left as a sand-blasted casting. (I want to cancel the black Japan on this Cover.) (6) Radius rods to the front axle. (7) I should also like the brake lever on the opposite side, that is, near the driver, so as to give more room to the passenger, and be more accessible. Naturally the coil will be in the new position, and you will include any other modifications. I should prefer these improvements on my No.4. Goshawk, which I may trust you will get from France as soon as convenient. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
