RE. INSTRUMENT BOARD LIGHTS.

It is proposed to attempt to make some improvements in the lighting of instruments, and we would like the various people concerned to get us the following information:-

(1) At the show in 1919 we saw some instruments on the Sizaire-Berwick car which had we believe opal dials behind which were small lights. We would be glad if Sales could get us one of these instruments if they still exist. We believe they were made by Smiths.

(2) The instruments which we at present use have black dials with hands and figures in white paint. We would like to know the objection - if there is any - to white luminous paint either of the radio active or phosphorescent variety. The appearance of the instruments in daylight would be unaltered.

(3) One suggestion is to have 3 small lamps supplying diffused light to the instruments. We would be glad if EFC could discover for us some very small 4 volt pea-lamps, after the style of those used in torches, having screw fittings. We think that the screw fitting is not all that can be wished for, and would prefer some sort of very tiny bayonet fitting. Sample lamps or catalogues should be sent to "CamachaHenry Royce's office in West Wittering", West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.
