-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/MR.17.4.39. Assembly. As it will be some time before Wraith Ripple unit No.1 will be ready (Spec. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/R.5.4.39) we propose to rebuild this B.Y. No.6 unit as Wraith Ripple No.2 which can be built in the minimum of time. Specification consists of following:- (1) Existing crankcase and main bearings. (New thrust washers to be supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}) (2) Existing crankshaft. (3) " spring drive. (4) " Connecting rods, but with new big end bearings. (5) R.R. split skirt pistons as produced by Aerolite to EW.2170. (6) Cylinder block to ECD.1269, i.e. existing Bentley V cylinder block with sufficient metal left in bores to machine 3.25 dia. This block in Ni-Chr-Mo material. (7) Existing cylinder head and valves if inspection proves O.K. (8) Wraith III inlet manifold, carb. and air silencer LOP.EW.1214/1099/868 to be fitted. (9) Flywheel and clutch to be specified by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} (10) Up-to-date R.R. Wraith ignition distributor.
