BENTLEY V No.6 UNIT.

Will you please inspect and report on the above unit which is now dismantled following an endurance of 20 hrs. on the test bed.

The inspection to consist of:-

(1) Photographs and measurements of 3-layer Vandervell bearings (mains).

(2) Crack test and measurement of .4 carbon crankshaft journals and pins.

(3) Crack test and measurement of crankcase camshaft bearing bores, the Monichrome camshaft running direct in crankcase.

(4) Photograph, condition and measurement of big end bearings.

(5) Condition and measurement of the Vandervell little end bushes.

(6) Measurement of Monichrome camshaft journals and cam profiles for wear, also crack test of complete shaft.

(7) Crack test of Attwater camwheel, also whether any wear on teeth and what backlash between crank pinion and camwheel and camwheel and dynamo pinion.

(8) Condition of Metalastik dynamo coupling.

(9) Crack test of inlet and exhaust valves, also cylinder head, also whether any seat sinkage.

(10) Measurement of cylinder bores and pistons together with crack test of latter.
