26142. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/MA.29.4.33. We send you herewith curves of Peregrine and Bensport shunt dynamo performance with the existing third brush dynamos shewn dotted for comparison. In achieving reasonable commutation at high speeds it will be noted that we have had to sacrifice "cutting in" speed somewhat. Our future experimental work with both machines will be to regain early "cutting in" without sacrificing maximum output. We shall be able to do this if we can reduce the temperature rise of the machine or, by suitably remounting the dynamo on the engine, run with a higher temperature rise without danger.
