COPY OF LETTER FROM:- MESSRS. NORTH & SONS LIMITED. WHIPDENDELL ROAD, WATFORD. Your ref. Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 2/NJ161025. Our Ref. CHK/HC.16. 20th October 1925. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 16th inst., regarding magnetos Nos: 73970 and 73972. We have referred to your letters of the 9th and 13th of July and regret that there has been a misunderstanding with regard to the matter of the increasing clearance between the sleeves and pole shoes. This modification having been made in all magnetos delivered after July 13th until the recent modifications were made. The two magnetos have been put on one side by our Repair Shops pending instructions and through an oversight the instructions given in your letter of July 9th had not been passed on to them. The magnetos are therefore in the condition in which they were received and as the modification then suggested will not now be required we would suggest that these two magnetos should be brought in line with your present requirements to do which it would be necessary to fit new cam cages, new pole shoes, new sleeves, new front end plates and bronze back end plates and we beg to quote for the necessary work £5. 0. 0d. each less 20% and trust that we may be favoured with your instructions to proceed. The magnetos Nos. 77696 and 81062 have been received but have not yet been examined and we hope to send the report on these tomorrow. Yours faithfully, For and On Behalf of NORTH & SONS LTD, (Sgd) C.H. Kirby, DIRECTOR. [STAMP: RECEIVED] | ||
