Ha/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}18/KW. 8.7.35. Induction Systems. With further reference to Ha/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}2/WA.{Mr Wallis}11.3.35. Tests have been carried out on a six cylinder engine, to obtain information on the following points:- (1) Relative merits of two carburetters on a six-port pipe, against a single carburetter on the same pipe, the carbs. being of the horizontal type in each case (S.U.). (2) Comparison between round and buffer ended six-port pipes, using a single horizontal carburetter. (3) Comparison between single horizontal and single downdraught carburetters on 6 port pipe (buffer ends). (4) Value of "dropped" pipe using a downdraught carburetter. (5) Comparison between single horizontal and single downdraught carba. on a 4 port pipe (buffer ends). (6) 4 port pipe mounted on 6 port pipe. (7) 4 port pipe in conjunction with 6 port head by externally siamesing. (8) Twin downdraught carburetter, feeding independently into 3 cylinders from each choke. (9) Large capacity centre chamber on 6 port pipe. (10) Large capacity centre chamber on 4 port pipe. (11) Single horizontal carb. inclined at 60° to the pipe. (12) Available heat for "hot-spot" purposes from our present standard arrangements. | ||
