WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Report on 19-G1. at 15,000 Miles. I hope sufficient time has now elapsed since this report was made to enable information on the following points to be given, in respect of parts which failed to function satisfactorily. Front Wheel Wobbling. Slow speed wobbling was experienced, which was found to be due to failure of cross-steering-tube, repeatedly, to maintain its loading. Has a satisfactory means been found to prevent this happening, by better fitting or otherwise ? Brakes. It was suggested that the rear brake-drums were taking more than a desirable proportion of the braking effort, evidenced by their wear and tear. Has anything further been done with a view to increasing the ratio of the front wheel braking ? Teleguage. This appears as usual to have failed to give a reliable reading. Have you ever known one of these teleguages to remain accurate ? And p'haps can we be told in light that they held us out of these troubles? Ignition Coil. Misfiring was experienced at times after running fast. Was the coil tested at W. subsequently, and if so what was the report ? Also was the condenser of the standard capacity fitted to other 25 H.P. cars ? Clutch. This we found slipped very badly at intervals during mileage in England. Can excessive oiling still cause slipping or has this now been made impossible ? Valves and Guides. elongating and wearing. Is the position in respect of this trouble satisfactory yet ? Exhaust System. On this run there appears to have been even more evidence, perhaps than usual, that our manifold casting sets up internal strains in itself, likely to give trouble in the hands of owners who drive fast. I have not been shown any encouraging modification of this very troublesome part. What is the position now please ? The complaints under this heading in last Assembly Return are very alarming.
