(Cont'd) Minute 2. -4- 22.9.33. "immediately after final test and quite often after "a few hundred miles only." Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} stated that as there are over 2,000 cars on the road without central lubrication to the servo and as oil getting on the servo is now one of our chief troubles, it is suggested that the lubricator which has been fitted should be cancelled and a small oil hole provided instead. A standardisation sheet is in circulation for this modification. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} is of the opinion that over-lubrication is a contributory cause to inefficient servos. It is suggested that retrospective action should also be taken and that the Bijur lubrication be removed from the servos of existing cars. Design and Experimental attention will be given to this servo inefficiency. Minute 3. Engine Gear Rattles (2nd item in H's note). HL/AL.18.9.33. states:- "C. is aware that this matter is having urgent "attention by Design and Experimental Dept., but "information is required as to when whatever "modification is decided upon, can be made avail- "able not only on production but to deal with the "large number of complaints which are arising on "cars already delivered, some of which have been "persuaded to carry on pro tem. It is noted that "there were 44 cases last quarter, and that 39 "have been dealt with between July 1st and the "1st week of September at 'H' alone, 8 of these "being recurrent cases. A protest has been "received from our Dundee Agents to the effect "that the last 3 25 H.P. cars delivered by them "to their customers have all had to be returned "to W. for this complaint immediately. These "Agents express their alarm at this matter having "become common knowledge in Dundee." E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that we have made a lot of progress recently and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}10/MJ.19.9.33. was read by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Attached is copy of this memo. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} will prepare an estimate of the cost of making the alteration mentioned in paragraph 4. | ||
