-2- We wish to avoid this interference and extra work involved and this can be achieved by having the covers tapped 7/16 dia. 18 T.P.I.R.H. and using the Phantom III parts. With regard to the alteration of the die, this can be brought in at your own convenience so that all existing covers may be used up without scrap. We note that all carburettors will have the letter 'T' added to the serial number, that are built to our specification of the 16th ins. for which we thank you. It is a fact that we wish to revert to the original choke torsion spring P.17068, this is in conjunction with the reduced spindle bearings ECD.648. We would like to state here that E.61387 spring be withdrawn and scrapped on all DC.42 carburettors. With reference to the slow running system our final decision was for the air bleed to be taken from the choke body and not from the floatchamber. All carburettors returned should be plugged and converted to the choke bleed. We enclose another print to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}467 to avoid any error and may add that this is also the complete modification required for any 30 H.P. D.C.42 carburettor that may be returned with the complaint of spitting on the overrun in the exhaust. Will you kindly send by return if possible half a dozen main jets size .060, an official order will follow later. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
