GEAR BOX FOR 8.B.V. FOR FRENCH TEST.

B50 gearbox

It has become necessary to make some modifications to our Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}21.7.38. These are:-

(1) Small synchro cones of 8° angle for top and overdrive to FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}239.

(2) 9° second speed cone of the present type.

(3) We do not require the aluminium bronze reverse fork.

(4) Reverse gear should run on the original plain parallel small diameter shaft made in S/ZNCR. The bronze bushes in the gear should be white metalled and run at 3 1/2 thou clearance. For reverse only the strongest variety of selector springs should be used.

(5) The new casting which has not yet been used should be built up for this car.

(6) Certain new gears are necessitated by Item (1) of this memo, and we should therefore like all gears in the box to have the works' blessing as regards silence.
