H.E.West, Esq.,
Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ld,
DERBY.

Dear Mr.West,

During your call last week you asked me to specially investigate Mr.Bernard Hopp's complaint regarding the erratic reading of a Petrol Gauge on his Bentley Car.

In accordance with your wishes, I arranged for an engineer to examine and test the Gauge at Messrs. Park Ward's premises but, unfortunately, owing to work in progress it was not possible to check the instrument in the fitted position. It was, however, removed and afterwards examined at this end when it was found that one of the screws holding the movement in position was missing and the other was loose. I am informed that when the missing screw was replaced and the loose one adjusted, the Gauge passed all our tests satisfactorily.

I think your suggestion that we should lock the screws in all our instruments (especially in the case of the Bentley range) a constructive one. I have asked Mr.Haviland to immediately take care of this matter as undoubtedly the speed at which the average Bentley is driven justifies this action.

Yours very truly,
