64523. Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.12/KW. 27th June, 1934. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons, (Motor Accessories) Ltd., Cricklewood Works, LONDON, N.W.2. For attention of Mr. C.W.Nichols. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 25th inst., referring to failures of petrol gauges etc. We drew the attention of our Test Dept. to the remarks contained in your letter and also Mr. Hester's report. They are, however, very emphatic that the Meters in question were faulty, and upon changing the meter in each case on the chassis the trouble disappeared, hence proving that the tank attachments were quite in order. We suggest, in order to prevent a recurrence of this misunderstanding between our Test Dept. and your Service Dept., that the next time we have a number of petrol gauges faulty you will send your Representative to our Works in order that he can personally inspect the gauges on the chassis so as to confirm or otherwise the complaints. We think you will be quite agreeable to this procedure as it may be that either your tests or our tests are not representative. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
