Re. JAPAN III WIRING.

With further reference to the above and your note By/Rd.1/W.19.3.32, as the J.3 equipment is not yet completed obviously no volt drop figures are available owing to the fact that no starting current figures have yet been obtained.

Could you give us further particulars with regard to the .5 volt drop figure mentioned in your note, i.e. what engine was used, compression ratio, state of battery and whether the engine was hot or cold etc.

We do feel that on a partly discharged battery where the volt drop across the battery itself is more the drop in the cable must be taken into account particularly where leakage is present on the ignition H.T. system.

Some time we will arrange to carry out volt drop tests with the proposed scheme.
