X4523 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.9/MA. 18th May, 1934. Messrs.S.Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.Russell. Dear Sir, We have a suggestion in mind to dispense with the reserve petrol tap and fit up a pair of contacts in the tank unit on the Smith electric petrol gauge, such that when the petrol level is below a certain amount a warning light is lit on the instrument board. We should be glad if you could rig up a tank attachment experimentally for us to test on the lines indicated above. You may consider it more expedient for your representative to pay us a visit in order to ascertain more exactly what our requirements are. It may be, also that you have already tried this scheme and can therefore tell us the results of your own tests and experience in this direction. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
