- 4 - (17) lighting similar to No. 30. (18) Instrument board and controls as No. 30. (19) 1 Dustbin. (20) 2 Storage racks similar to those in the Garage Stores where all special parts common to all beds can be kept. As we are only having 1 engine in this test house there should be room for the above. (21) Small office with equipment as No. 30 bed. (22) Phantom III type of oil cooler with water off the mains. (23) 2 U tube boards complete. No. 5 Test House. We should like to bring this test bed as up to date as possible including the following. (1) As requested without effect in the memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd118/MJ 30.10.36 the lighting in this test house is very poor. To be rewired and lighting arrangement as No. 30 bed, the existing wiring is a disgrace, loose wires hanging down the wall to the D.C. connection which we wish to retain. A complete new switchboard is required. (2) Robinson heater to be deleted, this circulates exhaust gas andsteam radiators to replace it. (3) Old steam pipe near the innerwall to be removed, this is very much in the way. (4) Existing flowmeter arrangement on the panel to be deleted completely and identical B & B flowmeters, floatchambers and filters as No. 30 to be fitted. (5) External exhaust silencers to be installed as No. 30 bed. Despite the petrol bridge it is possible to house the silencer for the PhIII at this end of the house and the silencer for the Bentley at the other end. Thick section cast pipes for the silencers to be laid in the trenches with good supports. | ||
