To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/MJ.13.8.29. With reference to your Hml4/W12.8.29. If BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will order the necessary tubes we will make a definate comparative test for F.2.B series to see that we have lost nothing by going to the 5½ x 7 m.m. tubes. As however, the present 6 x 7 m.m. tubes are definately unsatisfactory we cannot see the use of building up more of them for replacement purposes. As one test has already been made on the S.S. radiator showing that there is no difference in cooling between the 5½ x 7 m.m. and the 6 x 7 m.m. tubes, we suggest that the new radiators for the Repair might be made in parallel with our own, as only a few will be required. They can then be issued on the completion of our test. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We are issuing a standarisation sheet. | ||
