it is possible without delaying delivery.
We are of the opinion that the scrap is negligible when compared with the advantage gained.
The new scheme is being fitted to all the London-Edinburgh type of cars as previously arranged.
You ask if the experiments were made with the sides of the engine case closed in and did they show any heating of the radiator. The tests were made with the ventilated scheme of engine guards and the standard bonnet, and as above stated, the engine and radiator showed no sign of heating.
It is difficult to say on what chassis the fitting of these guards will commence, as the manufacture with the present design is extremely slow, and we could not very well keep pace with our output of chassis, but we will press forward as fast as possible with the simplified design, and I will advise you immediately we can decide on what chassis we shall commence fitting these guards.
This job has been a very difficult one, and any delay which has occured is owing to difficulties met with in the manufacture of the first sets.
Mr Wormald informs me that he could not keep pace with our output, in the manufacture of the guards as at present designed and he therefore suggests that we should not fit the device to standard chassis until
