contd :- -7- to 3 pts/min. at 2500 r.p.m. This engine was fitted with piston rings similar to Silver Ghost - not 'L' shaped rings. Therefore in general we can say that high oil con-sumption on the Phantom is no mystery or peculiar to the design but depends upon the fit of the bearings and the piston rings. Attached is a curve showing the oil flow at different speeds for 12-EX which has carefully fitted hand scraped bearings and is the car to be used for the next 10,000 miles test.
