Whitmore No. O Compound

In accordance with "W" instructions we ordered from Derby a supply of the above Compound for use in the differentials of Phantom II Chassis. This duly came to hand and we have already supplied various quantities to several chassis and a small quantity to Repauto for cars in their region.

I am now writing you on the question of the cost of this Compound to us in Madrid, as we are afraid that our customers may complain of the high price we shall have to charge them for it.

Judging from the importation expenses charged to us by the Spanish State Oil Monopoly for the last consignment received, the cost of this Compound is out of all proportion to the cost of Price's Ambergear. The cost of the latter is Ptas.3.80 per Kilo and our selling price Ptas.5.50, whereas the cost of Whitmore No. O Compound works out at Ptas.18.00 per kilo, and if we are to have the same profit as we make on the sale of Price's Ambergear we shall have to charge Ptas.25.00 a Kilo which, as mentioned above, I think may give rise to complaints.

We have recently ordered a further supply of 10 - 1 Gallon tins through the Monopoly in order to have a sufficient quantity always on hand in accordance with your instructions, but in view of the high cost of this Compound I should be glad to have your views on the matter at your early convenience.

Ba.

P.S. As you are probably aware we have no other option but to order this Compound through the State Monopoly while this continues to exist in Spain.
