Re E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hurlimann Esq., Klaus Strasse 24, Zurich.
Chassis No. 49-AE.

In reply to H6/TB13.10.24, we have looked up the records of this car and find that it already has High Compression Pistons of the 4 ring type. The compression space is now 23.6 cubic inches so it is certain that we cannot increase the compression ratio.

The radiator has a 20" matrix and is mounted on the original post-war type brackets with the result that the bottom tank is already almost touching the starting handle shaft, so that we cannot increase the matrix in a downward direction as we have done in the case of a few older type chassis.

There is at present a downward slope on the top of the bonnet of 2" from the dash to the radiator, so that we could not increase the height of the radiator very much without fitting a new dashboard and scuttle to the body. The bonnet has standard shutters.

A high-speed Fan was sent to Schmidt, Geneva in March 1923, for this car.

An Open Touring Body of reasonable weight is fitted.

The rear axle ratio is 16 x 52.

From the above it will be seen that there is not very much we can do to reduce boiling, unless experiments with the improved radiator are further advanced, as merely fitting a louvred bonnet and lower-geared axle would only go a very small way towards reducing the trouble.
