- 2 - E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/HP.28.9.34.
-----------------

(6) White metal main bearings - no design required.

(7) Lead bronze big ends with connecting rod to LeC.3860 - design completed and issued.

(8) Lighter valves to LeC.4113. Design completed and issued. These valves are suitable either for the present valve springs or for the double springs in item (1).

(9) Lightened crankshaft to LeC.4032 - design completed and issued.

(10) Ground Textolite gears - no design required.

(11) Lightened cylinder liners to LeC.4022 but in ordinary aero cylinder steel - design completed and issued.

(12) Compression ratio. 6:1. as before - no design required.

(13) Magnesium parts - as instructed in E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}3/HP.4.7.34 with the exception of the carburetter body.

(14) Double downdraught carburetters - design work is in hand but will take some time to complete and will not therefore be available for the second chassis.

(15) Oil filter for auto adjusting tappets to suit existing engines LeC.4065 - design completed and issued.

(16) Pistons - It is not possible to modify the pistons as requested, the gudgeon pin position in the piston is governed by the ability to remove it and take the piston off the connecting rod, and for this reason it cannot be lowered. It appears that we should look into the possibilities of obtaining Aerolite pistons to the same maj dimensions as our own. Will Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} please do this if he agrees.

(17) Modification to overcome 'lubrication' failure of tappet pads - we are waiting for further information before design mods. can proceed.

(18) Vacuum controlled ignition. - the design for this will not be available for the second chassis.
