- 3 - E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/HP.28.9.34. ---------- (19) Tappet blocks in piston alloy - instructed in E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}3/HP.4.7.34. (20) Larger water pump with Packless gland - the design for this is almost complete but necessitates an alteration to the crankcase casting. If the casting is not yet instructed it should be possible to incorporate this. There are other mods. in hand to the crankcase which it may be possible to incorporate, these are as follows (i.e. 21/22/23). (21) Single central crankcase web - to facilitate casting and sand removal - the design for this is well advanced and is in a state where we should be glad of HHC's opinion as to its suitability for easier casting. (22) It is possible that crankcase modifications may be necessary to overcome the restriction in the water system. (23) Oil filter for auto adjusting tappets for future engines - the design for this is almost complete (LeC.4064) and consists of carrying the filter in a neater position than LeC.4065. CHASSIS. ---------- (1) Alternative front engine mounting to LeC.3839 - this design was completed before the front end of the frame was modified. Designs will be completed in the course of the next few days to accommodate it to the present chassis front end. (2) Improved front engine rubbers to reduce the unit load on the rubbers LeC.4117 - design completed and issued - is interchangeable with present rubbers. (3) New gearbox - designs completed and issued. (4) Independent front wheel suspension - designs are in hand to increase the ground clearance by 1/2" (which with 1.00" larger dia. wheels raises the front of the car..) to allow damper loads to be checked independently of | ||
