[Handwritten] x.995. BJ c. to Hr. c. to Ck.{Mr Clark} } - from Mr. Walker [Stamp] RECEIVED [/Stamp] W1/CK{Mr Clark}/7/10/20. Re. Post War Chassis Instruction Books. Col Harker has advised me that you have written him, (memo reference BJ7/H4/10/20.), enquiring about the above. Discussing the matter with him he agreed that as I am familiar with all the details , (having dealt with the matter since Mr. Southern's departure to America 12 months ago) I should send you a full report. In the first place it is necessary to bear in mind that the Electrical Starting and Lighting equipment fitted to the Rolls-Royce chassis is, with the exception of a few minor details, the only difference between our post-war and late pre-war chassis. Consequently it was decided that immediate demands for Instruction Books could be reasonably met by means of a reprint of the pre-war Instruction Book supplemented by a booklet dealing with the electrical apparatus. During 1919 the electrical equipment of the post-war chassis was in course of development. In fact the first electrically/ [Handwritten insertion: equipped] chassis left here at the end of August 1919. It is important to observe in this connection that not until about June of last year had a decision been reached exactly as to the make and design of the electrical units to be fitted on the chassis. Even after this date alterations were made | ||
