| To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} BENTLEY Since issuing a standardisation sheet on S/SLV. valves (exhaust) following the 15,000 miles test in France and 30 hours endurance an unexpected trouble has cropped up whereby these valves should not go onto Production. It is with regard to the burning of the valve material when the Stellite is applied that the trouble occurs, causing cracking at the joint between the two materials. The strengthened neck type of KE.965 valve to EB.2970 should be put on production in line with the standard 25/30. strengthened valve. The standardisation sheet for the increased capacity oil pump quoted drawing numbers for straight tooth gears, these however should be Helical gears as there are six cars in France with this type of pump in conjunction with Lead Bronze big ends having run for some considerable time without any complaint.
