For the attention of Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hives.

Dear Sirs,

Mr. Lappin informs me that you might be interested in a self-adjusting valve rocker operated by oil pressure, for possible use on your car engines.

As a matter of fact, the scheme I have been developing was intended originally for aero engine use, and has already been incorporated in a 24-cylinder aircraft engine. The results obtained to date have been very promising, although, of course, we have not to worry about obtaining the maximum degree of silence when idling.

If you are likely to be interested in such a scheme, I shall be very pleased to come up and discuss the matter with you at your Works.

Yours very truly,

Frank B. Halford
