For the attention of Mr.C.Ward.

Dear Sirs,

Re Bentley 5 B IV.

We regret that it is not convenient for us to send down a fitter to peg the lamp bracket sockets of the above car, and we would be glad if you would do so.

We sent down with the car a supply of taper pins, some .187" diameter and some .156" diameter. We wish you to use the larger pins. Two pins should be put into each socket which has to be fixed to the tube. The size of hole to drill is that which is the diameter of the centre of the pin or a little less, so that when the pin is driven in about one-third protrudes beyond the tube, and two-thirds is inside, as per sketch attached. Please do not cut off the protruding portion of the pin as we wish to pull them out when the car is returned to Derby.

We understand that the car will be ready for delivery on Thursday morning, and we are arranging for our driver to call for it and leave by mid-day.

We confirm that you will fit a rubber tube or Sorbo roll to the front edge of the sunshine roof so that when the roof is closed the joint is made air-tight. Our experiments here on several cars are said to have demonstrated that this will cure the windnoises from this source.

Yours faithfully,

For and on behalf of
ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
