X7772 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Ey. ) R2/M26.5.30. C. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} OY. PHANTOM II L.H. CHASSIS, & IMPROVED R.H. X.7772 X.7770 X.7250. WW. have finished the following :- (1) Improvements to oil filter because gland and ratchet drive was not of RR. reliability. (2) Because of fitting oil filter our petrol filter was crowded, and had to be moved to the other side of the engine. (3) Because the thermostatically controlled shutters have to work at lower temperature, and to use a sylphon that we can get we found it better to make the action double acting, and we have been able to make a simpler scheme by articulating one of the connecting rods. The ignition control had been modified by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} at Derby before I returned. Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/WJ20.5.30, this reduces the programme to items (2), (6), (9), (10 and 12 being sent immediately), and (13). I am not entirely pleased with the central point radiator support as desired by Derby, and carried out. There is nothing definite to square the radiator with the chassis line, and we are controlling it by pulling at the solder. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} is sending modifications to me instructions. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
