Dear Colonel Rowe,

Your letter of the 24th.inst. as regards the shock absorbers on your Bentley car, has been passed on to us.

It is our practice to run most of our tests in France. Before the Bentley car was put on the market we ran various Bentley cars over 50,000 miles in France. Since that time a number of Bentley cars have gone to the Continent for demonstration purposes, etc., and several customers who are really fast drivers have used their cars out there. We admit that the springing and shock absorbers on the car have to be a compromise to fulfil the various conditions.

Our opinion, based on experience, is that you will find the car quite satisfactory on the Continent.

It is not possible for us to fit auxiliary friction dampers to the Bentley car without a considerable amount of trouble. The coachwork clearances are all very small and there would undoubtedly be difficulty. We have no hesitation in recommending that you take your car to France with the existing dampers.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
